Remembrance Day
11 November 2021 marks the 102nd anniversary of the armistice, the suspension of fighting, the end of the First World War.
Each year on this day Australians observe one minute of silence at 11:00am, which is the time the armistice came into effect and after four years of fighting guns on the battle fields fell silent.
On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, we remember those who lost their lives in all past wars and peace keeping missions. The event was originally known as Armistice Day but later became popularly known as Remembrance Day.
