Park Street Market
Updated: Nov 9, 2021
On 28 November 2020, the Glenferrie Traders Association (GTA) launched the new Park Street Market after the originally planned May debut was postponed multiple times throughout the year due to COVID-19.
Every Saturday between 8am and 1pm, until 27 February 2021 Park Street, a side-street off Glenferrie Road, is closed to traffic and transformed into a small local market for the Glenferrie community. The stalls include fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood, meat and poultry, deli and baked goods, gourmet products, and fresh cut flowers from local Glenferrie traders such as The Leaf Store, Deep Blue Sea, Glenferrie Gourmet Meats, and Panache Flowers.
Community groups are also welcome to host a free stall at the Park Street Market. Each day of trading, there is a dedicated market stall managed by the City of Boroondara which can be used by local community groups, school groups, and not-for-profit organisations. These community groups are encouraged to apply for the stall through the GTA website, subject to council approval.
The Park Street Market's policy is to maintain 90% of stalls offering 'fresh produce': any unprocessed fresh food for human consumption (eg. meat, poultry, fish, vegetables) and bread and delicatessen products (eg. nuts, cheese and butter, jams and preserves, plants). The GTA does not consider applications for take-away food and drink stalls.
In light of the Glenferrie Festival's cancellation for 2021, the Park Street Market offers an opportunity for local traders and community groups to present and promote themselves to the Glenferrie community in a smaller, COVID-safe capacity.
