Lockdown 6.0 Bites
Local businesses had started recovering from last year and now, more than 200 days in lockdowns since 2020, many are distressed. Some businesses remain open in a COVIDsafe capacity, such as grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, post offices, news agencies, and pharmacies. While restaurants, cafes and bars are reduced to take-away and some retailers offer click & collect, many traders are closed entirely.
Glenferrie Hawthorn events like ‘Light Up Glenferrie’, hosted by the Glenferrie Traders Association,was cancelled twice due to lockdown 5.0 and 6.0. Similarly, The Glenferrie Times’ monthly meet-ups with local council representatives were cancelled in July and August.
