Earth Day and Earth Month, supported by one of Glenferrie's own sustainable salons

Did you know that April is Earth month? Today, 22 April, is Earth Day, a world-wide annual event devoted to environmental awareness, mitigating climate change, and the conservation of the earth’s species.

Throughout April, Rhodes Hair & Spa (776 Glenferrie Road) has been fundraising for 'Take 3 For The Sea', a global campaign encouraging people to simply pick up three pieces of rubbish whenever they visit the ocean, our waterways, or wherever they go, to help lower plastic pollution in the world’s oceans. Rhodes Hair & Spa are selling hair scrunchies made from recycled plastics with all proceeds going to Take 3 For the Sea, while $4 from every shampoo bar service also goes to the cause.

“It’s really important issue to us,” said Sally. “It’s a really great fundraiser, and we just want to encourage people to get involved and get the message out.” The environmentally-friendly salon stocks only vegan and naturally-sourced products, and consistently supports environmental causes such as WaterAid and Earth Day.

This year’s theme for Earth Day is ‘Restore Our Earth’, involving a three day campaign of international climate action.
