Climate: Kooyong Candidate Forum
Updated: Apr 21, 2022
On Wednesday 27 April from 7 - 9pm at the Hawthorn Arts Centre (360 Burwood Road), local climate action group Lighter Footprints are hosting the 2022 Kooyong Candidates Forum to find out where this year’s federal election candidates stand on climate.
The forum will be moderated by climate campaigner and Strategic Director at Women’s Environmental Leadership Australia, Victoria McKenzie-McHarg. At the time of publication, three candidates have confirmed their attendance: Labor’s Dr Peter Lynch, Green’s Piers Mitchem, and independent, Dr. Monique Ryan. The current Kooyong MP, Liberal’s the Hon. Josh Frydenberg, declined to participate however the invitation remains open. Lighter Footprints has not approached United Australia Party’s candidate Scott Hardiman to participate in the forum.
The community is invited to attend the forum, ask questions, and hear from the attending candidates about where they stand on climate. RSVP at lighterfootprints.org. The forum will be live streamed at facebook.com/ lighterfootprintsmelbourne and made available after the event via the Lighter Footprints Youtube channel.
