Exhibit at 821 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn | Marco Corsini
Updated: Sep 30
Originally from Wangaratta in north east Victoria, Marco Corsini began drawing at a young age and remembers being inspired by Renaissance art during a family holiday to Italy. It was at 12 years of age that Marco began painting landscapes with oil paints, which remains a common theme in his work today.
"Often painted in-situ, the works explore the unique spacial and visual experience of a particular landscape or of a space. They describe the perception of space, light and texture with areas of loose abstraction and other areas of detailed observation. I like to think of them as describing passing through a space and observing in part but never fully perceiving. When the figure appears in my work it also maintains a similar tension as it shifts between distance and detailed intimacy".
Marco attended Melbourne University where he studied a Bachelor of Education in Visual Arts followed by a Master of Creative Arts (Painting).
Marco resides in Richmond, the same place where he started teaching art classes ten years ago under the name Melbourne Art Class. Marco opened his second Melbourne Art Class studio in Glenferrie Hawthorn early in 2019 at 817B Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.
